I like the diplomatic aspects and the need to actively cultivate vassals, allies, and even rivals. Trade is richer than in Caesar III, but not as laborious as in Pharaoh. It's slightly more forgiving on the micromanagement front. Why is Zeus the most fun (for me)? It's a more light-hearted game with a lot of humor. Now I'm bouncing back and forth between Zeus and Pharaoh. I tend to play a specific game intensely for a while, then I burn out and move on. My impression is that Zeus is the most fun, and Pharaoh has the most long-term replay value. I'm replaying some of the C3 and Pharoah scenarios,but probably won't replay Zeus. Zeus is a sheer pleasure in most parts,and least limited in city planning,you can never build a C3 or Pharaoh city close to some of the beautiful Zeus designs,such as SenetEr's Athens.It's new idea of parent city and colonies is also very interesting.On the negative part,I think Zeus is a little too simple for veteran C3 and Pharaoh players,and its new deplomatic features(a new kind of interactivity) is not so mature. I like Casesar 3 for its clarity,good balance between challege and fun,but some of its features are not so pleasant,e.g.I have to use the "ugly" gatehouses to make a decent housing block,and the infamous market ladies. Pharoah is the most complicated one of the three,provided more challege for the players,but it is also the most buggy one.I also don't like the military part of that game,and personally,I take the naval battles as a joke.Monument constructions can also be dull by certain means. That really depends on how you think the word "enjoyable means. I posted this in the "Game Help" forum because a)this is the 'main' forum and gets the most traffic, and b)I need "help" choosing which "game" to play. I'll be posting this same thread on the main forums for the other two games as well, so if you respond to this one, please don't respond to either of the other two. Whether or not you own Cleopatra or Poseidon is also irrelevant, since I don't own either of them (and this poll is for my benefit, after all ).ģ.
Please don't respond unless you have played all three games enough to be familiar with most aspects of gameplay (this doesn't mean you have to be an expert by any means, however). Please don't post to say "All three games are great!" If you truly believe that they are all completely equal in terms of entertainment value, fine just don't bother telling me so (in this thread). NOTE: I'm trying to make this a 'formal' poll, so a few 'rules' (guidelines?) for respondents are in order.ġ. So, I'm surrendering responsibility for the decision by asking you folks to make it for me. I ask because I'm trying to decide which game I should play myself, and can't decide.
